Plans for Apple's debut TV are reportedly moving ahead as the tech giant begins scouting components for the display.
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster wrote in an investor note that Apple has contacted at least one supplier in Asia about display components for the hotly anticipated TV.
Mr Munster predicted Apple will look to launch its offering by the end of the year, although this is "uncertain", and said the tech giant will not enter the market unless it has a "revamped TV content solution", Cnet reported.
"Since we know Apple is exploring television hardware, we are therefore led to conclude that the company is exploring a solution for live TV, and this solution could be one that has not yet been taken mainstream," he added.
New TV display technology was a major theme at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, with Sony debuting an industry-first LED screen that uses six million light emitting diodes to create an image.
LG also unveiled a 55-inch OLED TV, which it claims is 1,000 times faster than either LED or LCD displays.
