Barnes and Noble could be preparing to launch a tablet to rival Amazon's Kindle Fire as early as tomorrow (February 22nd).
The 8GB version of the Nook Tablet is set to go on sale at midnight in Wal-Mart stores in the US, according to a document seen by The Verge.
According to the news provider, it boasts many of the features of the current Nook Tablet but matches the lower storage of Amazon's reduced price Kindle Fire.
Based on this, the price point is expected to be largely similar to that for the Fire and is aimed at the lower end of the market.
Apple's Tim Cook recently suggested that tablet sales will outstrip those of PCs in the future, following a strong quarter in which Apple shipped 15.4 million units, at least double the number sold during the previous year.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology Conference, Mr Cook said: "From the first day it shipped, we thought that the tablet market would become larger than the PC market and it was just a matter of time."
