More car manufacturers expected to offer LCD screens

LCD screens are expected to be one way in which car manufacturers tempt buyers this year.

The installation of LCD screens is one way in which car manufacturers are likely to tempt British motorists into buying a new vehicle this year, according to Santander.

With the economy still fragile, the banking group suggested that more offers and discounts will be on offer to attract buyers.

Sitting alongside the standard deals such as one-year tax free, will be added extras, such as the inclusion of LCD screens, it predicted.

Santander predicts two million Brits will purchase a new car in 2012, an increase of 1.4 per cent since 2010.

Tesla has included a 17-inch touch screen in its Model X, the largest display available in the industry.

The screen controls the entertainment system, the navigation and a number of other vehicle controls and is similar to that fitted in the previous version, the Model S.

Elon Musk, who runs Tesla, said there has already been huge demand for the new vehicle.
